Tanikella Bharani Calls Acting in ‘Shivoham’ a Divine Blessing at Grand Mahashivaratri Launch in Hyderabad
A spiritually resonant musical tribute titled Shivoham was formally unveiled on Monday at the Hyderabad Film Chamber in a ceremony marking the auspicious festival of Mahashivaratri. Conceived as a devotional offering to Lord Shiva, the song’s launch drew distinguished spiritual leaders, prominent literary figures, and celebrated members of the Telugu film fraternity.
The devotional track has been presented by Radhakeshav and produced by Pothapu Keshava Reddy, with direction by Damureddy. The music has been composed by Yashokrishna, while the evocative lyrics were penned by noted poet and lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja. Renowned Malayalam playback singer Madhu Balakrishnan rendered the song, which will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on Keerthana TV, broadening its devotional reach across India.
The unveiling ceremony was graced by His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Madabhinavoddanda Vidyasankara Bharati Swamiji, the Peethadhipathi of Pushpagiri Mahasamsthanam, alongside veteran actor Tanikella Bharani and other distinguished guests.
‘A Fortunate Blessing’: Tanikella Bharani
Speaking at the event, Mr Bharani described his involvement in Shivoham as a rare spiritual privilege. Reflecting on his long-standing association with Shaivite philosophy, he recalled authoring the book Atagadhara Shiva over two decades ago — a work that continues to invite him as a guest of honour at Shiva-centric spiritual gatherings across the Telugu states.
“To have the opportunity to perform in Shivoham is truly a blessing,” he said. “I immersed myself in devotion while acting in this composition. The song was filmed within the sacred precincts of the Isha Foundation, and I personally facilitated the necessary permissions. Director Damureddy has crafted the visuals with remarkable aesthetic depth, while Yashokrishna’s composition elevates the devotional intensity.”
He further praised Suddala Ashok Teja’s lyrical simplicity and emotional resonance, noting that Madhu Balakrishnan’s rendition carries national appeal. “I hope Shivoham touches the hearts of devotees everywhere,” he added.
A Devotional Work With a Message
Director Damureddy underscored that the song was produced in multiple major Indian languages to ensure wide accessibility, while producer Keshava Reddy emphasised that the project blends devotional fervour with a meaningful philosophical message.
Lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja reflected on the spiritual symbolism embedded in Lord Shiva’s iconography — particularly the egalitarian ethos of Kailasa, where all beings coexist harmoniously. Drawing from the concept of Ardhanarishvara, he observed that Shiva’s form itself conveys profound lessons about unity, equality and balance within human relationships.
Music composer Yashokrishna expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compose a devotional hymn released on such an auspicious occasion, describing the project as both a creative and spiritual milestone.
Spiritual Benediction
His Holiness Sri Vidyasankara Bharati Swamiji remarked that the Advaitic principle of equality — central to Shaivite philosophy — resonates deeply with the essence of Shivoham. Releasing the song on Mahashivaratri, he said, was an auspicious convergence of devotion and artistic expression.
The event was elegantly anchored by lyricist Maunashree Mallik, adding literary grace to the proceedings.
