Many successful people in the film industry are known for being multi-talented, and legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) is a prime example. He wasn’t just an actor—he was equally skilled as a director, producer, and writer.
His deep passion and understanding of cinema made him a true all-rounder in the Telugu film world. NTR achieved success not only as a hero but also as a filmmaker and producer.
Several of the movies produced by NTR were massive hits, and many of those he directed went on to become blockbusters. According to close sources, a few key people in the industry encouraged him to explore direction and production, recognizing his immense talent beyond acting.
NTR was always known for standing by his friends and colleagues in their times of need, which led to some interesting turns in his career.
There was a specific reason behind NTR’s decision to become a producer. His brother Trivikrama Rao worked as a music supervisor and producer. He produced the film Seetharama Kalyanam, which was directed and acted in by NTR himself.
However, the movie’s budget turned out to be insufficient, and to cover the shortage, Trivikrama Rao planned to borrow money from Vahini Studios.
The studio, however, refused to lend money directly and instead proposed to act as a co-producer, which meant they would get a share of the profits.
Not wanting to dilute their ownership, Trivikrama Rao declined the offer.Worried about how to tell his brother, he kept the issue to himself—but NTR soon found out. Upon learning the situation, NTR personally met with the Vahini Studios management and arranged for the required financial support.
From that point on, NTR stood behind every project his brother worked on. Although Trivikrama Rao’s name continued to appear as the official producer, NTR was the real force behind the production.
Later, for a few films, NTR also officially credited himself as the producer, marking the beginning of his journey as a filmmaker beyond acting.
