Summary

Following an aggressive promotional campaign that generated considerable curiosity among young audiences, Risk arrived in theatres with the tagline “A Game of Youth.” Marking the directorial debut of acclaimed music composer Ghantadi Krishna, the film attempts to blend crime, suspense and youthful emotions into an engaging cinematic experience. Featuring an ensemble of newcomers supported by Rajeev Kanakala, the film promised something unconventional—and largely delivers on that promise.

Synopsis

Karthik (Sandeep Ashwa) and his three close friends survive through calculated scams. Hoping to impress former Miss India Sandali Arora (Zoya Javeri), they pretend to be professional music video creators. However, their harmless deception takes a dangerous turn when Sandali offers them an unexpected proposal—to eliminate her husband, Pradeep Chakravarthy. Why does she want him dead? Will the four youngsters accept the assignment? The answers unfold through an intriguing chain of unexpected events.

Analysis

Ghantadi Krishna proves that creative storytelling can transcend professional boundaries. Making an impressive transition from music composer to filmmaker, he presents a thriller that maintains audience engagement through consistent narrative momentum. Rather than depending upon commercial clichés, the screenplay builds curiosity through situations that feel contemporary and relatable.

The first and second halves remain equally engaging without losing narrative rhythm. The employment consultancy backdrop offers a fresh cinematic angle, reflecting present-day aspirations and shortcuts adopted by unemployed youth. The performances by the newcomers are natural, while Rajeev Kanakala adds maturity and credibility whenever he appears on screen.

Musically, Ghantadi Krishna once again demonstrates his command, with several songs complementing the emotional graph of the film. Although the editing could have been sharper in a few stretches, Jagadeesh Komari’s cinematography captures the mood effectively. Production values remain respectable throughout.
