Karate Karthi Odyssey
Karate Karthi says acting was always his calling — he left a CRPF career and national-level martial arts success to pursue films, and now counts sharing screen space with Megastar Chiranjeevi and working with Anil Ravipudi among his career highlights.
Profile: From CRPF Champion to Screen Villain
Karate Karthi’s journey reads like a screenplay: a disciplined athlete turned security professional who traded a uniform for the camera. A former CRPF officer and a 13‑time national karate champion, Karthi also won a gold medal in boxing while serving in the force and trained in gymnastics, silambam, judo and kickboxing — credentials he says gave him an edge in stunt work and screen presence.
The Turning Point: Choosing Art over Service
In an interview-style recounting, Karthi explains that his passion for acting outweighed the security of a government job, prompting him to leave the CRPF and enter films as a junior artist in Kamal Haasan’s Dasavathaaram. That early exposure, he says, set the stage for steady work in high-profile Telugu and Tamil productions including Singam 3, Dabangg 3, Bigil, Petta and Khaidi, where his physicality and discipline earned notice.
Breakthrough and Recognition
Karthi credits the film Doctor with delivering the recognition that matched his 14 years of perseverance in the industry. He describes the film as a watershed moment that validated his decision to pursue acting full-time and opened doors to more substantial roles.
Working with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi
Most recently, Karthi drew attention for his portrayal of the antagonist in Anil Ravipudi’s star-studded film featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi, a collaboration he calls “a privilege.” He emphasizes that working alongside Chiranjeevi was both humbling and instructive: “The megastar’s simplicity is his greatness,” Karthi says, adding that Ravipudi’s direction infused the set with energy and creative momentum.
